2021 Labor Relations Updates

The annual Labor/Management Meeting will take place on October 8^th in Napa Valley, California. For now, this date is tentative. The leaders of the WICA & WSC will provide additional details in the coming months as conditions regarding the COVID-19 pandemic become clearer. In preparation for the event, all members are encouraged to forward industry concerns to the WICA office, and of course, all are invited to attend if they are able.
 

Negotiations Underway

2021 is off to a fast start for some WICA chapters, as collective bargaining agreements will be expiring:

• New Mexico’s Local 76 renewed on January 1^st.
• Utah’s Local 69 renewed on January 31^st.
• Oregon’s Local 36 expires on April 25^th, and a one-year extension has already been negotiated.
• Seattle’s Local 7 Alaska Appendix will have a wage opener that expires May 31^st.
• Hawaii’s Local 132 expires on September 4th.

The 2020 NIA Safety Excellence Award

In conjunction with its Virtual Spring Summit, which took place online March 16–18, 2021, the National Insulation Association (NIA) announced the winners of the 2020 Safety Excellence Award, the only nationally recognized award for outstanding safety performance in the mechanical insulation industry.
 
Over a decade ago, NIA created the program to recognize top companies that have established structured safety programs to create safe working environments that ensure the well-being of their employees.
 
The Safety Excellence Award program honors four levels of excellence—Platinum, Gold, Silver, and Bronze—in four categories: Associate (Manufacturer), Contractor, Distributor/Fabricator, and Metal Building Laminator.

Armacell announces; Armacell Solutions Portfolio into the North American market. This portfolio groups Armacell’s insulation products into comprehensive packages aimed at making the specification of the right insulation for all the mechanical systems in a project easier than ever before.
