Fishing Derby Fun
The women took the top prizes at this year’s Fishing Derby on the Columbia River in Oregon. With a total of $1,300 in prize money at stake, ladies took it all home, with the exception of two men, who joined the ladies in the Day 1 Boat Prize and won the smallest tagged fish.
Pati Piro had the distinction of catching the smallest, legally tagged fish on Day 1 and the largest fish of the tournament, as well as being on the winning boat both days.
The two-day derby, chaired by WICA Vice President Robert Jeffries of Summit Contracting, LLC, has become a staple summer event for WICA members, with many returning each year for another shot of catching the biggest fish, or the best fish story of the one that got away.
